Hey all, thought I’d remind you once again to follow me at my new Tumblr if you haven’t already. I’m writing all kinds of things thereabouts.

Interested parties may want to, I dunno, follow me there?
Hope you enjoyed all those terms of endearment I just threw at you. Thanks to everyone who has already followed me over at I Wanna Be Your Blog, my awesome new Tumblr for awesome people to enjoy. If you’re awesome (and I suspect that you are) you’ll mosey on over there and follow me, as the laws of awesomeness dictate that you must.
For indeed, how else will you get your fix of silly lists, incomprehensible film criticism, rants, sick jamz, minimal doses of sentimentality, and allegedly witty commentary? Well, everywhere on the internet, BUT ESPECIALLY HERE.
Thanks guys. Y’all are the noblest Romans of them all.

…to follow me over at http://tessastrain.tumblr.com. Cool kids will have already noticed that I have named my new-old blog after a really excellent Stooges song and that I’m already posting about cute boys and random acts of flyness. I would offer you candy or something, but that would be a lie. So reward my honesty by following me over at the new location.

I have been aware for some time that my web presence is kind of a mess, particularly on Tumblr. When I first joined the site, it was with the purpose of creating an essay blog about the San Fernando Valley. Which I did. Kind of. And abandoned. Kind of. (Maybe “shelved for future use” is a better way to phrase it.)
Anyway, this is by way of explaining that the whole time I’ve been on Tumblr, the Valley blog has been my default blog, leading to much confusion. (“Who the hell is this valblog person and why doesn’t repulsiveinteractions like anything I do?!”) So I’m doing some reshuffling. I’m going to move my operation to the default blog, which will now be under my name (http://tessastrain.tumblr.com—you’ll notice that it’s currently in transition). Follow me there if you want to keep reading the things from my brain. The Valley essays will be deleted from there and moved over to a new blog, with the same ol’ url you’ve come to know and love, possibly to be revamped and revisited.
The upshot is that I’m going to be phasing out posts on Repulsive Interactions and encouraging you all to follow me at the new-old account. I won’t be deleting this one, just no more new posts after a while, and I’ll give you plenty of warnings before the move is official. #ITSAPROCESS
In the meantime, you can always follow me on Twitter where I will continue to say things, albeit in fewer characters.

I’ve curated a “Best Of” selection from approximately the last year’s worth of posts for new followers and anyone else who is interested:
I also encourage you to check out my half-abandoned blog of essays about the San Fernando Valley (which is actually my primary Tumblr account due to “whoops” and also the good people of Tumblr still not having figured out how to let us change that, so if I follow you, it’s from that account), my old art blog, and my twitter.

I am a little baffled by this response to this post??
Name: I don’t recall asking about his name. I referred to him as Jack Napier because in Tim Burton’s Batman (which is what I had hoped my title would explain is what I was talking about, not the Joker in general), that’s the name of the character. Trust me, I have read enough comics to know that the Joker’s real name is a mystery. But also, you mention the Joker’s origin story as if there is one definitive origin story for the Joker? Which there isn’t? I’m guessing you’re talking about the one in Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, but the DC continuity in general makes much of the fact that the Joker’s past is in dispute and doesn’t take one specific position on what his true origin might be. For that matter, The Killing Joke itself raises doubts about the veracity of the origin story portrayed therein (I quote Mr. J himself: “If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice”). Tim Burton’s Batman also takes the liberty of portraying Jack Napier as the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne, whereas in the comics it was the preposterously named mugger, Joe Chill, retcon regarding Simon Hurt/Darkseid notwithstanding. In conclusion, movies are different than comics!
Prince: Prince is a BAMF or the Joker is a BAMF? Or do you mean both? Who is showing off? I recall asking an either/or question, but I don’t even know what we’re talking about anymore.
Hey y’all, if offering people unsolicited corrections regarding Batman minutiae is your bag, that’s fine by me, but it’s bad form not to read the post you’re responding to.
