I am a little baffled by this response to this post??
Name: I don’t recall asking about his name. I referred to him as Jack Napier because in Tim Burton’s Batman (which is what I had hoped my title would explain is what I was talking about, not the Joker in general), that’s the name of the character. Trust me, I have read enough comics to know that the Joker’s real name is a mystery. But also, you mention the Joker’s origin story as if there is one definitive origin story for the Joker? Which there isn’t? I’m guessing you’re talking about the one in Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, but the DC continuity in general makes much of the fact that the Joker’s past is in dispute and doesn’t take one specific position on what his true origin might be. For that matter, The Killing Joke itself raises doubts about the veracity of the origin story portrayed therein (I quote Mr. J himself: “If I’m going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice”). Tim Burton’s Batman also takes the liberty of portraying Jack Napier as the killer of Thomas and Martha Wayne, whereas in the comics it was the preposterously named mugger, Joe Chill, retcon regarding Simon Hurt/Darkseid notwithstanding. In conclusion, movies are different than comics!
Prince: Prince is a BAMF or the Joker is a BAMF? Or do you mean both? Who is showing off? I recall asking an either/or question, but I don’t even know what we’re talking about anymore.
Hey y’all, if offering people unsolicited corrections regarding Batman minutiae is your bag, that’s fine by me, but it’s bad form not to read the post you’re responding to.
PRINCE RULEZ 4EVER

Do you think that the Joker loving Prince was somehow a result of falling in the vat of chemicals, or was Jack Napier always into Prince but felt like he couldn’t admit it to his fellow mobsters for fear that they wouldn’t take him seriously until he became the Joker and finally had an outlet for his Prince fandom?

The batman was a unit of mass used in the Ottoman Empire and Central Asia. It has also been recorded as a unit of area in Uyghur-speaking regions of Central Asia. The equivalent unit in British India was anglicized as the maund. The value of the batman (or maund) varied considerably from place to place. (via defrost)
