Speaking of phenomenal songs/music videos by underrated Neosoul QUEENS.
It’s no secret that I love Solange. She’s kind of the sleeper to Beyonce’s blockbuster, and they seem to have this great, non-competitive relationship where they both just do their own things and are awesome in different ways. Beyonce talks about being on the fast track to becoming a legend, and Solange likes to DJ and go on picnics.
My best friend from college and I were obsessed with this song and video when we lived together. The video especially, which was completely unrelated to the song and so imperfect in the most endearing way. One of the things I find appealing in a lot of artists is the talent for making the right mistakes, especially as they are coming into their own, and the “I Decided” video is a great example of that. Then later she did that amazing cover of “Stillness Is the Move,” which really cemented my feelings toward her. To clarify, my feelings are that she is great.
